Growing up in Hong Kong and spending a couple of years of my childhood in Switzerland had a profound influence on my architectural career. The densely populated city of Hong Kong taught me the importance of frugality, efficiency and flexibility of spatial organization. The natural and man made beauty of Switzerland gave me the soul for design sensibilities and a deep respect for nature. Like a Swiss watch or a Swiss army knife, I embrace simple, direct, but nicely crafted architecture that is shaped by the surrounding physical environment, building technology, and the functional requirements of the programs. 

 

I came to the US to study architecture in the early '80's. After graduated from Minnesota (B. Arch) and Harvard (M. Arch), I worked as an intern in Minneapolis for 5 years and got my architecture license there in 1996. After moving to Seattle in 1997, I have joined several firms as a Senior Project Designer working on many different types of projects. During the pandemic, I have decided to pursuit my dream of starting my own practice, focusing on single family residential design. It is a modest beginning of a late career move but I am proud of being able to deliver some quality products to my clients' satisfaction despite under some challenging budget and scheduling constraints.

When I am not practicing architecture, I enjoy cycling and have been spoiled by the incredible outdoor of the Pacific Northwest. I also love classical music and jazz and play the flute occasionally to annoy my family and my dog. I am fluent in English, Cantonese, and some Mandarin Chinese. I am licensed in the State of Minnesota and Washington.
